Video on Asexual Relationships
I'm graduated!! And will hopefully have some time to give love to this blog (in addition to my other one.) I want to start with a response to the awesome stuff that's going down over at Hot Pieces of Ace, the asexual collab YouTube channel.
I was nodding my head all through this video, especially at the idea of asexuals playing by a different set of rules and having a responsibility of sorts to show people how unique non-sexual relationships can thrive.
While I'm not one to flirt, I have established several relationships through triangulation. You're absolutely right - these relationships have the potential to be some of the strongest, and occasionally, most non-sexually intimate relationships a person can have. As long as you don't wind up in the middle of any arguments and as long as you give both people equal quality attention, it's a win-win situation for everyone.
Just found this video haha! I love your idea about flirting as potentially non-sexual- the "energy" of flirting. It's a very unique idea. I'll have to give it some thought, as I've always been nervous to flirt because of the idea that is has a sexual connotation. Thanks for watching the HotPiecesofAce videos! ^__^ ~Southpaw
I love listening to your videos, you have an amazing way of explaining things.
On that note, I think it's awesome that you brought flirting into it. I have always used flirting as kind of a crutch where my actual social skills are lacking, and I absolutely love to flirt, but it's never been about sex or anything sexual for me. I'm glad that you put it out there that flirting is good and fun etc. regardless of your orientation.
Congratulations on graduating, DJ!
